Zegris Books is a publisher on architecture, art and design.

While a general arts publisher, the editorial programme of the publishing house holds a particular interest in three approaches :
— Accessibly presenting images and texts on all forms of architecture, art and design on an even plain, without divisions or hierarchies between works of fine art or fashion ;
— Presenting those creative practices which highlight the interconnectedness of cultural, societal and environmental matters ;
— Presenting historical works and texts which assist us in a better understanding of the present and hint at how we might create something new.

A note on the name
Zegris is the name of a genus of butterfly, an animal which symbolised the printed book in renaissance printing culture ; it is the name of a family featured in the title of the first historical novel, a genre that borrows from the past to create something new ; this story of the Zegris was later adapted by Chateaubriand, an important figure in French literature, who spent the years 1793–95 in exile writing his first works in a provincial English market town where the press' founder happened to grow up. As a press with an international outlook, the ambiguity of the name's provenance also appeals : not self-evidently of a specific culture, it represents the interweaving of cultures and their mutual influence.
